Police: Handcuffed Butte man attempts escape
Police in Butte say a 19-year-old man arrested in connection with a beer theft from a convenience store managed to get his handcuffed hands in front of him and made a run for it when the patrol car stopped at the jail.
Police tell the Montana Standard (http://bit.ly/15aD4Pr) that Collin Spinks of Butte only made it about two blocks Thursday before a police officer caught him.
Undersheriff George Skuletich says patrol car doors can't be opened from the inside. But he says the window was partially rolled down and Spinks opened the door by reaching the outside handle.
Authorities say Spinks faces a felony escape charge and misdemeanor counts of theft, obstructing a peace officer and resisting arrest. He also has two felony warrants from Anaconda-Deer Lodge County and Broadwater County.
