Police have 2 suspects in Emmett church fires
Authorities in Emmett say they have apprehended two men suspected of setting fire to a pair of churches in town last month.
Emmett Police Chief Steve Nebeker says evidence and statements link the two unidentified men to the arson cases. Criminal charges have not yet been filed in the case. But Nebeker says both men are being held in the Gem County Jail on unrelated charges.
On April 27, fire crews were called to battle blazes at the Community Bible Church and the 1st Baptist Church, each located about two blocks from the city's downtown.
The fires caused significant damage to the buildings. Members of the 1st Baptist Church have had to worship in another location due because the damage was extensive and cleanup is ongoing.
