The city of Missoula is exploring ways to make it easier to get neighborhood block party permits.
A block party is a neighborhood event that includes the closure of a street.
Obtaining a permit requires sign-off from seven city departments, including police, fire, the parking commission, finance and the mayor's office.
It usually means visiting each one of those departments.
Missoula Development Services said the process could be streamlined.
"We may ultimately recommend an application to our department," said Director Mike Haynes, "and we could notify the other departments and give them an opportunity to comment and make any conditions on the permit."
Staff will present its options to council's public health and safety committee.
Block parties have grown in popularity as a means to bring neighborhoods together.
