KALISPELL, Mont. -

Volunteers at the Flathead's largest homeless shelter are reeling after a boiler broke and the bill to fix it topped $4,100. But when it's freezing outside, there's no choice but to fix it.

The Samaritan House in Kalispell usually houses 95 to 100 people at night, and the broken boiler meant no hot water.

The shelter's executive director knows just how hard it will be to pay off that bill.

"It happened at a really tough time of the year for us. It's cold out now and we are just trying to help everybody we can and get them into a safe warm place. So we want to make sure that the place is warm," said Chris Krager.

After hearing the news, the lead singer of local band Marshall Catch, Luke Lautaret, decided to help out. Lautaret put on a fundraiser Thursday night at Scotty's Bar in Kalispell to raise money for the Samaritan House.
