Scarecrows spark imagination
MISSOULA, Mont. -

People are casting their votes for three people's choice award winners and Main Street Association members are choosing a special artistic merit winner for elaborate scarecrows on display in Stevensville.

This is the 8th year for the Stevensville Scarecrow Festival.  Organizers expect at least 4000 spectators.

23 scarecrows, made by local organizations and families, are competing this year.

Each one is inspired in a unique way, including the Girl Scout's scarecrow.

Catrina Heberle explains, "We wanted to make something creepy for Halloween, but something that wouldn't scare the little kids too much.  We wanted her to be brewing something, so then we thought it would be fun to have her making girl scout cookies."

Public voting continues tomorrow morning.

The scarecrows will be on display for a week.
