Sheriff poised to auction Tamarack Resort assets
A central Idaho sheriff is getting ready to auction off a handful of properties at the failed Tamarack ski resort.
The Valley County Sheriff's Office has scheduled an auction July 16 for the unfinished buildings that make up Tamarack's Village Plaza - once considered to be the heart of the resort community.
KTVB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/163KkNS ) a state judge has issued five foreclosure decrees to clear the way to sell off the properties at a so-called sheriff's sale.
The resort opened a decade ago near Donnelly but ran into financial struggles in 2008 when a bank-lending syndicate led by Credit Suisse sued the resort's majority owner for defaulting on a $250 million construction loan.
Construction at the resort stalled and the resort has been in foreclosure actions in state court.
