CHARLOS HEIGHTS, Mont. -

Heavy snow and rain took a piece of Bitterroot history during the recent blizzard. Snow caved in the roof of the historic Charlos Heights Community Clubhouse.

The old clubhouse, believed built sometime in the 1930s, was a mainstay just off Highway 93.

Charlos Heights is an old community between Hamilton and Darby.

In recent years, the roof had fallen into disrepair, and the clubhouse hadn't seen use in some time.

"All kinds of social events went on there and dances," said Charlos Heights native Ron Porter. "It's where the community gathered for many years."

Porter said he knows of no plans to rebuild.
