HELENA, Mont. -

The Montana Senate's Democratic leader says Sen. Shannon Augare has been released after being arrested on a warrant for not complying with the terms of a plea agreement.

Senate Minority Leader Jon Sesso of Butte says he spoke with Augare Friday after he was released by Blackfeet law enforcement.

Augare was arrested earlier in the day on a May 2 arrest warrant. He is accused of not paying a fine on a conviction of drunken driving and obstructing a police officer.

Augare has said he has paid the fine and the arrest warrant is driven by a political dispute between two factions of the Blackfeet's ruling council.
