Study: 90 percent of visitors like Montana
Nearly 90 percent of visitors to Montana who submitted unsolicited comments to the state said they liked what they experienced in Big Sky Country.
The Institute for Tourism and Recreation Research at the University of Montana reviewed some 1,100 comments submitted by nonresidents who visited recently.
A full 89 percent were positive.
Some of the upbeat comments were about things that come naturally to Montana: Its open space, majestic views and great access to the outdoors, just out the door.
But Montanans can take a little credit for some of the other kudos, like being pretty friendly - and offering numerous microbreweries to thirsty outsiders.
About 11 percent of comments focused on things that could be improved, including boosting recycling, poor roads and lack of signs.
