MSLA SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM
MISSOULA, Mont. -

Missoula public schools kicked off its summer meal program Thursday. Students 18 and under can get two healthy meals a day, free of charge, with no questions asked.

Program coordinators said lots of area kids take advantage of free and reduced lunches during the school year and they need the same option during the summer.

“In the summer those needs don't go away. They still need the help, they still need the food,” said Franklin School site coordinator Josephine Goble. “These kids are used to getting a good amount of their daily nutrition through the schools and school programs.”

Lunches are free at five schools in Missoula. Franklin, Lowell, Russell, Hawthorne and Chief Charlo schools all serve lunch from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. during the week.

Breakfast is served from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Franklin, Russell and Hawthorne schools only.
