Sweet Pea Festival officially kicks off
Sweet Pea has officially kicked off, and festival goers told us they're excited to check all the shows, food and artists.
"We've heard so much about it for so many years," said Bonnie Rupe, who came to the festival with her husband Ken.
This is the first time the couple is checking the festival out with their friends. When we caught up with them, they were browsing the art vendors.
They visit Bozeman every year from from Ohio, but made sure not to miss Sweet Pea this year.
"We stayed through the weekend," Ken said. He said they extended their vacation just to come to the festival.
And they said their friends didn't want to miss it, either.
"They timed their vacation to come out here and visit with us over the Sweet Pea Festival weekend, so that's sort of special," Ken said.
We talked with vendors as they got ready for the crowds. Karen Vick makes jewelry for her business called My Favorite Things.
"I make oxidized brass jewelry from mostly natural stones, and I use sometimes Swarovski Crystals and glass beads as well," Vick said.
She said she traveled from Whitefish to showcase her work, and check out what Sweet Pea is all about.
"It looks beautiful," she said.
So far, the Rupes and their friends say, they agree.
"Anything that's this special for the Bozeman community has to be special for us" Ken said.
Sweet Pea Festival runs through Sunday. Click here to see a list of events.
