Town Pump Inc. founder Tom Kenneally dies at 88
Town Pump Inc. founder Tom Kenneally Sr. passed away on Friday. He was 88.
Kenneally founded Town Pump with one gas station in Butte in 1953.
The business now employs more than 3,000 people and has grown to include convenience stores, truck stops, casinos, and motels.
Butte Chief Executive Matt Vincent said Kenneally was the perfect example of a successful family business, and he was important to Butte and the state of Montana.
"He was a very big asset to Butte," Vincent said, "and a very big asset to the rest of Montana with all the charitable work that Town Pump did, but also a shining example of how hard work and dedication can lead to something very successful."
A memorial service for Kenneally will be held Tuesday morning in Butte.
Kenneally is survived by his wife and seven children.
