Train derailment shuts down Highway 93 northwest of Whitefish
We have an update on the train derailment that shut down Highway 93 Saturday near Whitefish.
The closure is near the community of Olney, 40 miles south of the Canadian border and 20 miles northwest of Whitefish.
BNSF officials say an empty coal train derailed there around 3 p.m. on a highway overpass.
No injuries were reported.
We’re told a detour has been set up on Olney Loop Road, 1 mile south of the overpass.
Montana Department of Transportation officials estimated closure would last for 8 hours.
