BOZEMAN, Mont. -

A transient couple is charged with felony theft and operation of a meth lab after leading police on a high-speed chase.

According to court documents, 22-year-old Deborah Jean Hawes and 39-year-old Kenneth William Charles Abegg allegedly took credit cards from a residence and used them at two separate convenience stores.

Police say they were tipped off that Hawes and Abegg may have been at Home Depot on Thursday but when officers went to investigate, they say Hawes and Abegg took off, eventually getting stuck in a field and fleeing on foot.

Records indicate police found meth in Abegg's pocket and a small meth lab in the backseat of the vehicle.

Abegg is also charged with criminal possession of dangerous drugs and a judge set bail at $150,000.

Hawes's bail is set at $70,000.
