BOZEMAN, Mont. -

A sport utility vehicle collided with a minivan in southwestern Montana, killing an Idaho couple in the minivan and injuring the driver of the SUV.

The Montana Highway Patrol says an 80-year-old woman from Ennis was driving an SUV on Norris Road west of Bozeman at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday when her vehicle drifted into the oncoming lane, striking a minivan.

Madison County officials tell the Bozeman Daily Chronicle that 78-year-old Herbert Petersen of Pocatello, Idaho died at the scene while his 75-year-old wife, Jacqueline, died after arriving at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital.

The Ennis woman was hospitalized in Bozeman.

The patrol is still investigating the crash.
