BOZEMAN, Mont. -

Fire crews spent the day on scene trying to figure out how a garage in Belgrade went up in flames over the weekend. The fire broke out off of Pheasant Ln. around 10:45 Sunday night.

Fire crews arrived to a fully engulfed detatched garage fire. They were on scene into the early morning hours Monday. Deputy Fire Chief of the Central Valley Fire District, Kevin Strickler, said two family pets were lost in the blaze.

"A family goat and duck were lost in this fire," said Strickler.

Monday morning the homeowners walked around with fire fighters and sifted through what what was left, charred vehicles and other possessions. Strickler tells me the damage is upwards of $80,000.

"Lawn mowers, power tools, things of that nature," said Strickler.

Our crew was asked to film from a distance to give the family their privacy as they took in the scene.

"Losing a piece of your home, losing some family pets as they did and especially this time of year, around the holidays, the family is devastated," said Strickler.

The investigation continued for a good portion of the day as they tried to piece together what sparked the blaze. Strickler says the fire department completed their side of the investigation, but without an official cause, we wanted to know what is next.

"We are turning this incident back over to the homeowners and their insurance company for further investigation by the insurance company," said Strickler.
