MISSOULA, Mont. -

Veterans who visited the VA clinic in Missoula may have come home with a sack of potatoes for the upcoming holidays.

Spartans Honour, a veterans support group, was handing out 2,000-3,000 pounds of free potatoes to vets.

A Townsend farmer donated the potatoes to Spartans Honour for distribution to the veterans.

Spartans Honour is trying to highlight the needs of women veterans especially. Missoula is trying to get a women's vet-to-vet group off the ground.

"There are options out there for support groups for our women veterans," said Lucy Van Hoose, a registered nurse at the VA clinic and a Navy veteran herself, "that are coming back with PTSD issues and depression issues and anxiety issues and letting them know that there is a group out there that is designed for them."
