Volunteers help brighten seniors' holiday

BOZEMAN, Mont. -

More than a dozen volunteers filed into a small conference room at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital to wrap gifts for seniors.

It's part of Home Instead Senior Care's "Be a Santa to a Senior".

Folks purchased over 300 gifts Home Instead will hand out starting next Wednesday.

That includes close to 200 seniors from Livingston.

Last year, the group gave out 63 gifts, with little wrapping  help.

This year, they say they're surprised by the number of folks who not only need help but also by the number of folks who have turned out to help.

"Look at this- it's inspiring, it's heart warming. If someone is feeling down and blue at Christmastime, coming out, doing some volunteer work- whatever it is- be a santa to a senior. We love this because we care for seniors- this is what we do," says Home Instead Owner Ruth Ann Marchi.
