MISSOULA, Mont. -

Two people say they will run for the Montana Public Service Commission after chairman Bill Gallagher announced he won't seek re-election.

Lee Newspapers of Montana reported Friday that Democratic state Rep. Galen Hollenbaugh of Helena and former Republican Rep. Derek Skees of Whitefish say they will run this year to represent the commission's District 5.

Term limits prevent Hollenbaugh from running for his House seat again.

Skees served one term in the House and lost a statewide race in 2012 to Democratic state Auditor Monica Lindeen.

The 54-year-old Gallagher announced Wednesday that he would not run for re-election after the pancreatic cancer he was diagnosed with spread to his liver.

The five-member commission regulates electric, gas, telephone and water utilities in the state.
