Kalispell, Mont. -

In the Flathead, we checked in with Bill Nelson, the manager of Flathead Job Services. They have 300 job openings posted right now.

The lobby was crowded with people searching for job opportunities but nelson showed us how the unemployment rate in flathead county has decreased every November since 2010 when it was at 11.8% and now sits at 7.3% for November 2013.

Nelson went on to say that despite an increase in holiday retail jobs, unemployment in the Flathead is always higher in the winter because there are so many seasonal jobs available in the summer tourism months.

"Probably continue to rise through the early spring months. I would say when we get the December numbers and January numbers they'll probably be a little bit higher than November but that's to be expected We're just kind of following the trends" says Nelson.
