Wyo. grizzly-attack survivor gives advice
A 58-year-old Sundance man who survived a grizzly bear attack 21 years ago while he was hunting still carries the physical scars from the incident.
But Terry Everard still hunts and retains a great respect for grizzly bears and their power.
He has used his experience to preach safety in the backcountry, including suggesting that hunters and hikers carry bear spray and have it ready.
The native of Cody, Wyo., was hunting with two friends when he startled a sow grizzly with cubs. The bear quickly pounced on him, clawing and biting his head and upper body.
He tells the Billings Gazette (http://bit.ly/19EJXss) that he felt helpless and like the attack would never end.
He says the worst thing that happened to him was he couldn't bowhunt that year.
