Griz pluck Thunderbirds, stay perfect in league play

MISSOULA, Mont. -

The Grizzlies prevailed in a foul-laden game 73-67 over Southern Utah in Dahlberg Arena on Thursday, Jan. 17.

The victory made it 20 in a row for Montana over conference opponents.  The victory was the 73rd career conference win for Head Coach Wayne Tinkle; He is now ties with Mike Montgomery for career wins in the Big Sky coaching the Griz.

The difference maker came from the free throw line Thursday night.  The Grizzlies connected on 31 of 47 free throw attempts compared to the Thunderbirds going just 5 of 5.

Mathias Ward connected on 11 of his 13 shots from the charity stripe en route to a game-high 20 points for the Griz.

Montana remains perfect in league play on the year at 7-0.  Next up for the Griz will be rival Montana State on at home in Missoula at 7 p.m. this Saturday.
