Sophomore guard Jordan Gregory posted a career high 17 points to lead Montana past Eastern Washington 81-66 in Dahlberg arena Thursday night.
The game was close through the start of the second half, but Montana outscored the Eagles 44-29 in the last 13 minutes of play to coast to victory.
The win improves Montana to 3-0 in conference play and 7-4 overall to stay tied with Eastern atop the Big Sky standings. Eastern drops to 1-2 and 3-10.
Gregory was hitting shots early and often in the contest. He had a pair of threes in the opening stages to get the Griz out to a 12-4 advantage.
Spencer Coleman added 15 points off the bunch while senior forward Mathias Ward contributed 12 points and five rebounds despite being limited to only 16 minutes due to foul trouble.
Senior Will Cherry struggled to score in his first home start of the season. Cherry finished with 8 points, all of which came from the free throw line. Cherry did record 9 assists and 2 steals on the night.
Montana hosts Portland State this Saturday, Jan. 5, in a 7:05 p.m. game in Dahlberg Arena.
