Jamar and Baker named league MVP

With the college basketball regular season officially over its time for awards to be handed out.

Montana's Kareem Jamar was selected as the final Big Sky Conference men's basketball player of the week for the 2012-2013 season.

Jamar led Montana to three wins as the Grizzlies clinched their second straight regular-season conference title.During those 3 games Jamar averaged 16 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds per game.

Jamar guided a Montana team that was without senior Mathias Ward for all three games, and without all-conference guard Will Cherry for two of the three games. This is Jamar's third player of the week honor this season, and its not the only award Jamar received, he was also named the Big Sky Conference Most Valuable Player. Since the big Sky began recognizing an MVP in the 1978-79 season, Jamar is just the fifth UM player to win the honor.

Jamar was not the only Montana player to win league MVP honors, Lady Griz senior Katie Baker who led Montana to the 2013 Big Sky Conference regular-season Championship, was named the league MVP today...

Baker also was one of six players named first-team All-Big Sky, along with Lady Griz senior Kenzie De Boer. It was the second consecutive year Baker was a unanimous selection and her third straight year on the first team. This marks the first time since 2009 that Montana had a pair of first-team selections.

This season Baker helped lead the Lady Griz to their 23rd regular-season conference championship, which was their first since 2009. In doing so, she becomes the Lady grizzlies 13th Big Sky Conference MVP.
