Montana Tech Basketball defends homecourt, downs Great Falls
Sometimes we learn from our past experiences, and that seemed to be the case in Butte Friday when the Montana Tech Women and Men's Basketball squads both defeated the University of Great Falls Argos at home in the Mining City.
Less than a week prior to Friday's games, the Diggers were in Great Falls playing the Argos on their home court. The Tech ladies won 69-64 on January19th, while the Digger Men lost a close one 62-58.
Clearly both Tech squads took their experiences from Great Falls back to Butte with them and figured out a way to win on their home floor. The Lady Diggers won in blowout fashion, beating Great Falls 84-47. They were led by Kelsey DeWitt's 22 points and 9 rebounds, while Dannielle Devenny posted 14 rebounds and 7 assists. The Lady Diggers shot 49% for the game while holding the Argos to just 29% on the night. Tech now boosts their record to 12-8 and 5-3 in Frontier Conference play.
The men's matchup followed, and it stayed close all game long and was decided by just a single point, with Tech coming out on top 58-57. The Diggers were led by Bryan Bock's near double-double with 21 points and 9 boards, Adam Greger had 18 and 5 rebounds. Neither team shot the 3-ball well, Tech just 2-14 from beyond the arc, while the Argos scored on just 1 of their 13 three point attempts. The Tech men now sport a 12-10 record, and are 3-5 in conference play.
Both teams play at home again Saturday, January 26th, they host Carroll College.
