Semansky wins Big Sky Player of the Week
BOZEMAN, Mont. -

MSU Women's Basketball Head Coach Tricia Binford says it's very clear the impact senior Rachel Semansky has on the rest of the squad.

"How she makes everybody better is she shows what the level needs to be at. And when Rachel's off the floor then competitiveness drops. She competes every drill, she competes in everything she does and she doesn't take a play off. So those are things that are extremely consistent out of Rachel, and she absolutely has a blue collar mentality," Binford said.

This week Semansky was honored by the Big Sky Conference as it's Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

The award comes after the Bobcats defeated Portland State and Eastern Washington, both road victories.  In those two matches Semansky put up 21 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per contest, and shot an impressive 71% from the field and 84% from behind the free throw line.

Semansky says she feels like she can still improve.

"I'd say I'm more confident and getting better out of double teams and I'm trying to work on my turnovers, because that's a huge thing that I struggle with and I think that's getting better and better each game," the senior said.

Binford thinks the award is not just indicative of the work Semansky can do, but the team as a whole.

"It's great to see her rewarded for the team's success. And the team absolutely knows that this recognition is just what we were able to do on the road. But she's also one of the most humble kids there is, and for her team success is always going to be a bigger priority," Binford said.
