The Montana Grizzly men's basketball team entered Saturday's contest looking to win back-to-back conference games for the first time this season. However, Northern Colorado proved why they're one of the top teams in the conference beating the Grizzlies 84-71.

The Bears started the game on fire and jumped out to a 17-5 lead over Montana. The Griz got a spark of life from Jordan Gregory who scored eight points in a span of under two minutes. The Griz found themselves down once again late in the first half, but once more UM battled back scoring eight straight points to close out the first half.

The Grizzlies started the second half down by just one point, but were unable to keep up with the Bears. Northern Colorado outscored the Montana 44-34 in the second half and went on to win the game 84-71.

UM senior Kareem Jamar entered the game coming off of a career best 33 points against North Dakota. Jamar finished with a game high 23 points and moved past Jordan Hasquet into eighth place on the Montana's career scoring list.

The Griz were unable to get any production out of their bench which scored nine points compared to Northern Colorado's bench which scored 27 points. The Bears also made it tough for the Griz on the glass. Northern Colorado had 16 more rebounds than Montana.

The loss drops the Grizzlies to 2-4 in the Big Sky, and 7-8 overall. Montana will now face Idaho State Thursday, Jan. 23, on the road, which marks the start of four straight road games for the Griz.
