Jake Bleskin headed onto the field this afternoon for his first start as the Bobcats quarterback and immediately showed why the team had so much confidence in him leading up to this game. On Bleskin's first pass of the game, he launched a 44 yard completion to Jon Ellis.

"The first play was good," said Bleskin. "It was good to just get my feet wet. We got the 'W', that's all that matters."

Bleskin went 26-35, throwing for 305 yards and two touchdowns. Despite those numbers the offense struggled at times today to get anything going in the redzone.

"I don't know how many times we were in the redzone but we were always in the redzone knocking on the door," said Bleskin. "That's a point of emphasis on our offense, to score touchdowns instead of field goals.  Today we just didn't do that. We'll get better."

The defense stepped up again this week, as the defensive line seemed to be in the backfield all afternoon. Brad Daly recorded five sacks. Cole Moore picked up an interception and Alex Singleton picked off a pass and took it into the end-zone for MSU's second pick-six of the season.

"We're always trying to score when we're on defense," said junior linebacker Alex Singleton. "We want to score on every play if we can. We want to score more than the offense."

"It helps to have the back-end hold up like they did," said senior defensive end Brad Daly. "They did a great job today. The quarterback had no where to go. Fell into my lap a couple of time."

"Eighteen games where our defense has scored and we've won all eighteen of them," said MSU head coach Rob Ash. "That's a pretty good statistic and that's the mentality this defense has."

The next challenge for Bleskin and the Bobcats will be next Saturday when they head to Nacogdoches, Texas to take on Stephen F. Austin.
