Teigan Avery
MISSOULA, Mont. -

Kalispell Glacier’s Teigan Avery finished just one stroke better than her competition to take home the Class ‘AA’ girls' state title Wednesday at Canyon River Golf Course in Missoula.

The sophomore Avery finished the two day tournament with a score of 145, just edging the 146 that was recorded by Kortney McNeil of Billings Senior.

In the team scores it was Billings West taking home the championship hardware with score of 680.  The Butte High girls took second at 688, followed by Missoula Hellgate in third place with a score of 706.

In boys action things couldn’t get decided in just the standard 18 holes; Austin Berg (Billings West) and Cody Babinecz (Great Falls Highs) faced off in a pair of playoff holes after recorded scored of 146.  In the second playoff hole it was Berg who broke through with a birdie to win the hole and claim the state title.

Hellgate’s Pat Colberg finished just one stroke behind them with a score of 147.  In the team scores Hellgate fell just short of a state title with a total of 609, just a trio of strokes worse than your state champion Billings West boys who take home the hardware after registering a score of 606.
