MISSOULA, Mont. -

With their rocky start to conference play, Thursday night’s home contest with North Dakota almost felt like a must-win game for the Grizzlies... and Kareem Jamar made sure a victory was won.

Jamar scored a career-high 33 points to lead the Grizzlies (2-2 BSC/7-7 overall) in an 84-71 victory over North Dakota inside UM’s Dahlberg Arena.

The Grizzlies jumped out to an early advantage and led North Dakota (2-3/5-10)  the entire game.  Jamar scored 19 of his 33 points in the first half to help the Griz secure a 34-24 lead at the break.

The game did tighten down to 43-40 with 14:03 left to play but Montana followed that with a 13-point run and remained in control for the rest of action.

Four Grizzlies hit double figures in scoring.  Keron DeShields (11), Jordan Gregory (11) and Andy Martin (career high 10 points) joined Jamar in that category.

Jamar was 8-of-14 from the floor and had career-highs of 14 made free throws on 16 attempts.  He also had 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals.

UND’s Troy Huff showed why he’s the top scorer in the Big Sky by finishing with 24 points along with 7 rebounds.

Montana hopes to keep the momentum rolling against Northern Colorado (4-1/10-4) Saturday, Jan. 18 at home inside Dahlberg Arena.
