MISSOULA, Mont. -

The Griz soccer team's season has come to a close as unlike the past two seasons Montana did not advance to this year's conference tournament. Still the team ends their season this week on a positive note by winning their final game 4-0 at UC Riverside and sweeping up this week's conference awards.

Junior Chloe Torres recorded her first career goal and her first career assist in that contest; she's been named offensive player of the week for her efforts.

Her assist came in the 44th minute on a goal by freshman Aspen Peifer. Torres added a goal of her own in the 52nd minute to make it a 3-0 game. This is the first career player of the week award for Torres.

UM teammate Alyssa Nystrom played all 90 minutes at central defender in that shutout and today she was named Big Sky defensive player of the week.

Nystrom missed five matches this season with an MCL sprain, not coincidentally she was on the field for five of Montana’s six shutouts this season. Montana limited UCR to just seven shots, only two of which were on goal.  This is the first career player of the week honor for the senior player.
