The Grizzly Men's basketball team took down the Vandals 69-58 in a tough non-conference matchup Wednesday Night inside Dahlberg Arena. With the win, Montana ended a three game losing streak.
It was a tight contest with six ties and four lead changes, but the Grizzlies knocked down their free throws down the stretch to hold on for victory. Montana which had entered the game shooting just 61.4% from the line, converted 10-of-12 (83.3%) free throws in the final seven minutes of action.
Senior Kareem Jamar led the Grizzlies with 16 points to go with 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Four other Grizzlies hit double figures in scoring: Jordan Gregory (12), Mike Weisner (11), Mario Dunn (11), and Keron DeShields (10).
Junior guard Connor Hill led the Vandals with a game-high 24 points.
The Grizzlies lived large from long-range shooting 50-percent from beyond the arc (hitting 9-of-18). Guards Keron Deshields and Mike Weisner both went a perfect 3-for-3 from downtown.
The Griz host Saint Martin’s this Sunday, Dec. 15, in a 7:00 p.m. game in Dahlberg Arena. MOntana will then rematch Idaho in Moscow on December 28th for the Grizzlies' final non-conference contest before beginning their Big Sky Conference schedule.
