Lady Griz drop in standings after 69-49 loss to Southern Utah
The Lady Griz basketball team suffered a tough road loss Saturday night falling to Southern Utah 69-49.
It was a slow start to the game for Montana, the Lady Griz struggled to get in an offensive rhythm and went in the half with trailing the Thunderbirds 34-25. Montana's biggest lead was four points, and came early in the first half of the game. Southern Utah led by as many as 25 points with just under 6:30 left in the game.
The Lady Griz were just 8-of-31 from the field in the first half, including 0-for-3 from three-point range. The second half was very similar for Montana, the Lady Griz went 7-of-28 from the floor, including 4-of-13 from beyond the arc.
With the loss the Lady Griz fall to 11-6 in conference play, while Southern Utah improves to 12-5. The win also clinches a postseason birth for the Thunderbirds, Southern Utah is only the second team in the Big Sky to do so.
The Lady Griz will look to bounce back from the loss when they take on rival Montana State in Bozeman Monday, Mar. 3.
