Lady Griz upset by Wildcats 56-54

MISSOULA, Mont. -

It was a heartbreaking 56-54 loss for the Lady Griz who fell to Weber State on the road Thursday night.

Neither team shot the ball well in the first half, the Lady Griz went 9-of-32 from the floor, including 1-of-9 shooting from three-point range. It was not much better for the Wildcats, who shot 6-of-31 from the field, include 0-for-6 from beyond the arc. The Lady Griz had a lead as high as eight points with just over 6 minutes left in the first half, but Montana's lead was cut to 22-20 at halftime.

The second half was better for both teams, the Lady Griz hit 11 of their 27 second half field goals, Montana also went 2-of-6 from three-point range. Weber State also improved on shooting the ball. The Wildcats made 14 of their 30 field goal attempts, including 3-of-5 shots made from downtown. Weber State was able to outscore Montana 36-32 in the second half, helping the Wildcats get the 56-54 conference victory.

The Lady Griz only had two players score in double figures,  Maggie Rickman scored a team high 14 points while Torry Hill finished the game with 10 points.

Montana entered Thursday's game just a half game back from North Dakota in the conference standings, but North Dakota won its game against Northern Arizona and now has a one and a half game lead in the Big Sky Conference. The Lady Griz will get a chance to bounce back with a road contest at Idaho State Saturday, Feb. 22.
