The Montana State men's and women's team were both looking to extend winning streaks on Thursday and both would keep them alive against Portland State.

The Lady Bobcats were 5-0 at home this year and they made it 6 straight tonight defeating the Vikings in their first home conference game of the season, 89-78.

MSU began to pull away midway through the 1st half on the backs of sophomore Jasmine Hommes and senior Ashley Brumwell.

Up 14-9, Hommes would nail three jumpers to put the Bobcats up 23-13. Then Brumwell took over in the final 5 minutes off the half, putting up 7 points while grabbing 4 rebounds to send the Cats into the half up 44-29.

Brumwell lead all Bobcats with 18 points. Kalli Durham and Hommes each added 15. Jackie Elliot recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Portland State's Allie Brock led all scorers with 22 points.

In Portland tonight the MSU men were looking to go 3-0 in Big Sky Conference play and they would win in a nail-biter 79-76.

The Bobcats and Vikings went back and forth all night and headed to the locker-room at the half with MSU up 37-35.

Tied at 57 with 11:59 to go in the second half, MSU's Danny Robinson hit a free throw to give the Bobcats a 58-57 and MSU would not trail for the rest of the game.

Antonio Biglow led all Bobcats with 15 points as MSU shot 56% from the floor.

Both teams will now face Eastern Washington Saturday. The women will host Eagles at 2 while the men travel to Washington for a 2:05 pacific time game.
