Missoula, MONT. -

Wednesday was early signing day around the country for high school seniors ready to make their college basketball destination official.

It was an especially memorable day for a pair of high school teammates at Missoula Sentinel; Spartans Olivia Roberts and Maddie Keast made things official Wednesday afternoon, sitting down inside the Sentinel High auxiliary gymnasium to sign their letters of intent together.

"Today was a blast,” said Keast after signing.  “I wouldn't want to sign with anyone other than Liv, she's the greatest friend you could ask for on and off the court… even though we're going to rival schools."

"It was an awesome experience,” agreed Roberts.  “It was a little emotional because we'll be going separate ways; it's too bad we won't be together but being able to share that experience with a teammate and know that she's good enough to go to the next level is awesome."

Roberts signed her letter to play for the University of Wyoming out of the Mountain West Conference.

"Now it's just a relief knowing that I can enjoy my senior year and just have fun," said Roberts.

Keast on the other hand won't be going anywhere. Wednesday she signed her letter to stay in Missoula and play for the University of Montana Lady Griz program.

"It's amazing to have it actually be official and to know that I get to stay here in my hometown and hopefully represent Missoula basketball," said Keast.

Now that the paperwork is done, the pair says they're focused on getting Sentinel High a third straight state title, but not before they were able to enjoy today's signing together.

"She has made me such a better player,” said Keast of her teammate Roberts. “Just being able to play with someone of that magnitude has been amazing and I truly thank her for that."

"It actually does seem like it's been four years that I've been with Maddie, I've only actually known her for probably a year and a half,” explained Roberts.  “Hours and summers together and so it's been awesome.  We're best buds now and she's a great teammate and a great person overall."
