After picking up a big win against Northern Arizona on Saturday, the Bobcats received more exciting news on Monday.
Shawn Johnson received three special team awards Monday afternoon. Johnson was named the FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week. He was also named Co-Big Sky Special Teams Player of the Week with North Dakota's Greg Hardin. His third award, National Kickoff Returner of the Week by College Football Performance Awards. The two national awards were the first the Bobcats have received this season.
Johnson totaled 246 all purpose yards Saturday. A huge chunk of those came on a 100 yard kickoff return, the first kickoff returned for a touchdown for the Bobcats since 2008. It was only the third 100 yard return in MSU history.
Johnson also had 54 punt return yards Saturday and rushed for 98 yards. 27 of those yards coming on a rushing touchdown in the first quarter.
