MISSOULA, Mont. -

Griz track and field athlete Austin Emry has had one of the more decorated careers at the University of Montana.  The senior has made it to outdoor regionals every year of his college career and has been to nationals twice during the indoor season.  But the one thing Emry has yet to accomplish is qualifying for outdoor nationals.

"I think it would mean a lot, and more than anything I think it's just something for him to down the road in life look back and see what his accomplishments," said UM track and field coach Brian Schweyen.  "I think the older these athletes get once they get away from competition the more they appreciate what they able to achieve."

"It's everyone's goal, and for me to have the opportunity to do that as a senior you can't ask anything else it's huge," said Emry.

A native of Idaho, Emry chose to bring his talents to the University of Montana following high school. With his collegiate career coming to a close this spring, there are no regrets for one of the all time Grizzly greats.

"Oh he's fantastic, one of the easiest going kids," said Schweyen.  "He's one of the all time bests as well and he'll be missed."

"I love my coaches, my team, I love the friends I've made," said Emry.  "As far as representing on a national scale I think it's awesome it's really special and I don't know if I would have had the success if I had gone somewhere else."

The Big Sky Conference Championships begin Friday, May 16. in Flagstaff, Arizona.
