The NBA season might have just finished up with the finals, but the pressure is already on for young college grads to find their niche in professional basketball. And former Montana Grizzly Will Cherry has earned one of those opportunities this week.
Cherry was a four-year starter for Montana and an electrifying player for the Grizzlies. Now he's been extended an invitation to play in the NBA summer league with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Cherry is one of 12 players to make this summer league squad. He's one of only two point guards on the team, the other being Austin Rivers who was taken in the 2012 draft after just one freshman season on the court with the Duke Blue Devils.
The summer league starts next Friday with the Pelicans featured on NBA TV against the Knicks.
Cherry ended his University of Montana career ranked number one in school history in steals, number four in assists and number seven in scoring.
